 Sudan signs agreement to restore ties with Israel


The agreement was signed during the visit of US Secretary of the Treasury Steven Turner to Khartoum, 

Sudan has signed an agreement with Israel to normalize relations.

 According to the Turkish News Agency, the Sudanese government has confirmed that it has signed the "Abraham Agreement" with the United States to normalize relations with Israel.

According to a statement issued by the Sudanese Prime Minister's Office, the agreement was signed by Justice Minister Nasreddin Abdulbari on the occasion of the arrival of US Treasury Secretary Steven Turner in Khartoum.

According to the news agency, after Sudan signed the 'Abraham Agreement', Sudan has become the third Arab country to recognize Israel in recent months after the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain.

Palestinian groups have expressed concern over Sudan's signing of the agreement, saying it violates Palestinian rights and undermines the goal of an independent Palestine.

Earlier, the United States removed Sudan from its list of "terrorist-sponsoring countries" and a memorandum of understanding was signed between the two countries, lifting the embargo on international aid to Sudan. Sudan will now be able to receive funding from the World Bank after 27 years.

It should be noted that before Sudan, in September 2020, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain had signed the 'Abraham Agreement' with Israel in the White House.
