According to news, an anti-polio drive was underway in Takht-e-Nusrati, a border area of ​​Bannu and Karak in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. As a result of the firing, a policeman in charge of security of the anti-polio team was martyred on the spot.

DP O'Keefe said that the polio team was safe from the firing of the miscreants. The body of the martyred officer has been shifted to a nearby hospital while action has been initiated to find out the nature of the incident and arrest the accused.

It should be noted that anti-polio measures in different parts of the country in general and in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, in particular, are viewed with suspicion. Many volunteers and policemen have also died as a result.
