A meeting of the federal cabinet was held under the chairmanship of Imran Khan in which a preliminary report on nationwide power breakdown was presented on Saturday night.
Briefing the cabinet, Omar Ayub said that the power breakdown was due to a human error and action was being taken against the negligent employees.
Expressing dissatisfaction over the performance of the ministers, PM Imran Khan said that the ministers should improve their performance and grip on the ministries. Prime Minister Imran Khan also appeared unhappy with the performance of Energy Minister Omar Ayub. Imran Khan said that ministries dealing with the problems of citizens should not have room for error.
The Cabinet meeting discussed the Machh tragedy and the Osama Satti case. The Prime Minister directed that if the parents of Osama Satti were not satisfied with the government's action, they should get an inquiry from a High Court judge and those responsible for the Machh tragedy would be brought to justice.
The meeting approved the deployment of Rangers for the by-elections to be held in Umerkot. The federal cabinet approved a bill on the powers of the Auditor General of Pakistan and exemption of high-speed diesel from taxes and duties through general tendering, while FIA Commercial Banking Circle Lahore was declared a police station and a multi-story building in Nowshera. It was decided to set up a four-member committee on the construction of the building.
The Cabinet also approved the appointment of Justice Aid Authority, Director-General of Legal the appointment of new Administrator of National Medical Council, the appointment of Board of Governors of Pakistan Council for Science and Technology. Done
The meeting also ratified the decisions of the previous meetings of the Cabinet Committee on Institutional Reforms and the meetings of the Economic Coordination Committee and the Cabinet Committee on Privatization.
