FIFA has announced the names of the referees for the World Club Cup in February 2021 Football

 Abu Dhabi: FIFA's Referees Committee has announced the names of referees for the FIFA World Club Cup in February 2021 Football.



A statement issued in this regard said that the committee has selected seven referees and 12 assistant referees while seven video assistant referees have also been selected along with them.

Referees include an Emirati referee, Mohammad Abdullah Hassan, and assistant referees, two Emirati players, Mohammad Al-Hamadi and Hassan Al-Mahiri - the refereeing team will be led by Brazilian referee Edina Alvas Batista and will take part in the World Club Cup matches.

Sources said that this was done in line with the trend adopted in India during the 2017 FIFA Under-17 World Cup when Swiss referee Esther Stubli hosted a match followed by Uruguayan referee Claudia Ombres. Hosted the 2019 Under-17 World Cup in Brazil.

The committee has vowed that the selected referees will take part in the final preparations one week before the start of the match in which precautionary and safety measures will be taken to ensure their safety.

The FIFA Club World Cup kicks off on February 11, 2021, with seven clubs taking part.
