The national team returned to the pavilion for 297 on the first day of the match at Hegley Oval in Christchurch and at the end of the second day, New Zealand captain Ken Williamson was on 112 and Henry Nichols on 89.

On the third day, the Kiwis declared the innings after scoring 659 runs for the loss of 6 wickets. At the last minute, Pakistan lost the precious wicket of Shaun Masood. He failed to open his account once again.
